Update
I so badly wish I had more time to update my blog on a regular basis. Although, I never started a blog intending or desiring for people to read it (something about that seems arrogant and presumptuous...as if I have something to say that needs to be heard by so many). It was started as a personal diary so I could document my activities and have a record of them (I have poor penmanship and so I thought typing would be better). However, I seem to run into several people who say, "I wish you would update your blog more often." Ya, me too...I just have a hard time finding the time. By the grace of God I think I was able to connect with a lot of people while writing about Rachel's health ordeal, almost losing her, and all the aftermath.
I wish I had a month to just get away and write. I love to do it; it's just so hard to find the time. Below are some of the things that keep me busy:
1) I am the Vice President of Development at Rochester College
2) I was just asked to take over the enrollment/admissions/recruiting process at the College so now I am also the Vice President of Enrollment!
3) I am also an assistant basketball coach for the men's basketball team at RC, where I attend every practice and every game...that alone is more than a full-time job!
4) I preach every Sunday in Lansing, MI...which is an 1.5 drive from my house in Oxford.
5) Oh...I'm also a husband and a father of a 4 year old girl...and spending time with these two ladies is my favorite thing to do.
So these are 5 reasons why it is so difficult to keep my blog updated. I thought I would put my sermon up every week but even that hasn't happened.
I'm finishing up a 3 week series this Sunday leading up to Xmas. Two Sunday's ago my topic was "Xmas According to Dr. Seuss." I talked about the theology in the short film, "The Grinch That Stole Xmas." It's a modern day parable and there's a lot there if you have "eyes to see." And then last Sunday my topic was "Jesus' Graveyard...While We Wait." I preached on Mt. Ch. 1 and the genealogy. I really enjoyed preparing for the lesson and wish I had time to share everything I said. And then this Sunday my topic will be "Xmas According to Matthew...Not Charlie Brown." I will talk about the Xmas story in Mt. Ch. 2 and focus on King Herod and the fact that when Jesus was born...baby's all throughout the land were murdered. Don't worry...the message will end up being a positive one as Jesus was born into a world of pain and sickness and death...that's why Matthew emphasizes the fact that his name is "Immanuel...The God that is with us." With us even when suffering is breaking out all around us.
So, there is a brief update. Oh ya...Rachel is having a heart procedure on Jan. 19th. I will try and write more later...

Pictures are always good! And easy! Especially Abbey pix! I hope you get some with Uncle Adam while he is there visiting you in the snow. You have much good that you can share. Blogs should never be compulsions but opportunities for expressions that bless and encourage. You do a great job!
