Cardinals Take The Series

Well it wasn't World War III at all in our household. Rachel, Abbey and I were very friendly as we watched the Cardinal beat the Tigers in 5 games. In fact, in game 5 Rachel "felt bad" for Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander and started yelling "strike him out Verlander." However, Verlander and the rest of the Tigers pitching staff, while the best in baseball throughout the regular season, couldn't get it done when it counted.

Congrats to the Cardinal (who have always been my second favorite team)! And thanks to Sue, my mother-in-law, for the Cardinals World Series T-shirt.

Notice, Tigers manager, Jim Leyland. A coach once told me that after a loss; the players grieve for 5 minutes; the assistant coaches grieve for 24 hours and the head coach grieves until the next game...I guess Leyland will be grieving about 7 months!

Disney On Ice!!!

Abbey had her first taste of Disney and all the characters last Thursday night! Coach and Peej took Rachel, Abbey and I along with Uncle Randy, Aunt Kim and Cousin Palmer to see Disney on ice! We had a blast. Abbey watched with great interest all night as she sat in her seat and literally danced for 2 hours (I lied, when the big (scary) blue whale came out to swallow up Pinocchio...she jumped in coaches lap quick!...so for 1 hour and 59 minutes she danced. It's so much fun watching your child have a good time.

I know some people give Disney (the company) a hard time but I say...who cares! For two hours they highlighted different movies, all of which had a positive message and all of which brought joy to each child!

Enjoy the pictures.

Bagels (and Llamas) With Abbey

Abbey and I have started a tradition. We've been doing it faithfully now for a few months and I hope it lasts. On Saturday morning I take her out for bagels...just the two of us. We give her mother some "personal" time after a long week and let her start the weekend with peace and quiet. We each get a whole wheat bagel at Big Apple Bagels just north of Oxford and we sit there and chat and watch all the other patrons. This Saturday was special because we hooked up with Abbey's cousin Palmer and her Aunt Kimmy and Uncle Randy. So after bagels we decided to drive to Sherwood Forest and let them see the petting zoo that they set up throughout the holiday season. Of course, Abbey LOVED all the animals but she really liked the "silly" Llama. She had never seen a Llama before and we had never run across any in her animal books so this was a fun "first time." She has been asking about the "silly" Llama ever since.

I wish I had a picture to share with you but I don't carry a camera on "dates with Abbey." However, pictures that are etched in our minds...are the best kind.
