Remembering

Exactly 3 years ago tonight my wife was fighting for her life. I was absolutely convinced that this night 3 years ago would be her last night alive on this earth. I wish I had the words to express the utter despair and loneliness I felt while sitting in that Henry Ford Hospital hallway. In fact, in about 5 hours from now (2:30 AM) I was told she had just a few minutes to live... My brother watched from a distance as I pleaded with the doctor to do his best work as he emergently removed my wifes skull.

Rachel and I went to dinner tonight with our beautiful daughter Abbey and Rachel's parents (Brad and Sue Stevens) and my parents (Garth and Pat Pleasant). While everyone else enjoyed a meal and visited...I quietly celebrated the moment and gave thanks.

I count each and every day with her a blessing because 3 years ago I stayed up all night...and I now have the "terrible gift" of knowing what it feels like to have to live without her...

Words could never express how grateful I am for each and every person who read this blog and prayed...it gave me strength for several weeks that I'm convinced I would not have had otherwise.

Forever Indebted,

Klint

"Up North" Michigan W/ Abbey

Rachel and I spent 3 days with Abbey in Northern Michigan last weekend (a beautiful condo on Lake Charlevoix which spills out into Lake Michigan). I have been to 49 of our 50 states (I'm trying to find a reason to travel to North Dakota!) and several countries on 3 different continents and rarely have I seen beauty like Northern Michigan. The Great Lakes are breathtaking. Places like Mackinac Island, Harbor Springs, Traverse City, The Homestead, Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, Isle Royale National Park, Petoskey and Charlevoix...are absolutely beautiful. Its amazing how many "movie stars" and other wealthy people own homes in Northern MI or simply "summer" there. Most people don't realize this but Michigan has more coast line than any other state in the country...yes, including both Florida and California. The majority of the state is surrounded by water and includes an "upper peninsula" and dozens of Islands.

However, just to prove that I'm not biased because its my home state...nothing compares to the Red Rocks of southern Utah!!!
