One Reason Why...

One of the many reasons why I love my wife:

She is showing the world what Jesus would look like if He were 32 years old recovering from a severe brain injury and partially blind.

Instead of being depressed she has chosen to show the world how Jesus would look and act if dealt that hand...I think she's playing her cards very well.

Dearest Rachel,

I will never forget sitting in the ICU following your surgery and watching you breathe. It reminded me of when you were an infant and I used to wonder what you would be like when you grew up? Except, that day at the Henry Ford Medical Institute my fear for your future was intense. If someone had told me then that the following year you would be standing in the chapel at Pepperdine University with your husband and Randy Harris telling hundreds of people that "while I don't see as well as I used to; in some ways I see better than I did before", I would not have believed it. While I have always felt that you were a gift from God, I now see through the tragic events which you experienced (even though this would not have been what I would have choosen for my daughter), that God is using you (and your family) for His purposes and His will. I thank God for you and want you to know how proud I am of you and Klint. I can truly say that I don't worry about you now as much as I used to. I know that your father in heaven does a much better job of watching over you than I could ever hope or dream. And, I have been blessed to see what kind of person you have become! You make me proud.

Love,

DAD

Klint,Rachel,&Abby,
It was so good to be with all of you at Hannah's wedding. It was the first time I had been able to be with you physically since Rachel had experienced her medical problem. She is a living example of God's grace and a miracle. I couldn't agree with you more with your comments on her choice to 'be positive' and move on. How frustrating it must be to live with the sight limitations....and yet she is doing it quite well. Rachel, I applaud you for everything you have become and are becoming! Congrats and the new baby too. I am always praying for you and your new baby to be. Love, Elaine

I wrote a note on Brad's blog - but wanted to share here as well. I was moved last weekend during the wedding ceremony as we all sang How Great is Our God...I was looking at Rachel and Hannah both and praising HIM for his greatness and healing power of my dear friends. Things could have looked so different - one of them not standing there - but I am SO grateful that BOTH of them were there...standing together.
Rachel, you are AMAZING! I thoroughly enjoyed the time we got to spend together. You look beautiful and have such an endearing, graceful spirit about you. You strength and courage inspire me. You are doing a great job with Abbey and I know this new baby will bring even more joy to your lives. I wish we lived closer....but know you are never far from my thoughts and prayers. I love you!
